Demos and new server up

We’re all set to lift off. We’ve got a new, super-fast server that you’ll love and a personalized demo that you’ll love even more. Expect emails over the next week, as we have a ton to send out.

Make sure to contact us (phone or email) with questions and comments. The demo is only a start - we need your input to make sure we have exactly what you want. Enjoy and be sure to get in touch with us.

Thank you Austin

Thanks to everyone who came out to the NIRSA conference this past week. We really enjoyed getting all your feedback (and getting so many of you signed up for Athleague)! We’re going to be hard at work upgrading our servers so we can be ready for all your leagues this summer and fall. We’re also currently building personalized demos for the hundreds of schools that expressed interest in using Athleague.

Keep checking back for updates, as we’re sure to have a bunch. Thanks again everyone for making this past week such a success. We look forward to powering all your intramural programs!

Get your Free iPod Shuffle!

If you’re an admin or director of intramural sports at a major US college or university, you’ve got a good shot at getting yourself a free iPod down in Austin this week.

Here is the deal - come by our booth during the open session. Basically, if you sign up to try Athleague out over the summer to run your school’s IM leagues (which is completely free), we’ll give you a free iPod shuffle. If you don’t like our service, no harm, no foul, and you can go back to whatever you were using for the school year. If you like it and would like to use it to run your leagues once school starts (which we’re sure you will:), great, and it’s still absolutely free, of course.

So be sure to stop by our booth down in Austin next week!

Gearing up for Austin

We’re getting ramped up to go to Austin at the beginning of next month. NIRSA, the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association is holding their Annual Conference and Recreational Sports Expo there from April 2-5.

Be on the lookout for us on the conference floor - we’ll have a booth and will be giving out some pretty cool shwag (more on that later). Specifically, we’re going to be talking to IM directors and administrators and taking sign ups for summer trials (which are absolutely free, of course).

We’d love to meet you down there and show you the Athleague’s power in person - the power to streamline your sports league and ease your organizational headaches. More to come on the conference, and hope to see you there!

Site Redesign Underway

We here at Athleague have been feeling blue. Not the bad blue, but the color blue. Like the sky.

So, we’re hard at work on a complete site redesign. It’s getting close to Spring, and we’re starting to see the blue sky and green grass around us. And we figured Athleague should reflect our sunny outlook.

So be on the lookout for some changes on our end. A new logo and look, to say the least. We’ll let you know when it’s up, and we’d love to get your feedback.

Google Maps Integration

We finished up integrating google maps with locations. Now, you can use the power of Google maps to figure out how to get to and from your next game.

Also, admins can see all of their locations on one map. Down the road, we plan to integrate this into a sweet carpooling feature for teams and leagues that are spread out or have games at far distances. As usual, stay tuned. :)

Score Reporting

Score reporting is a big part of Athleague. Without it, standings don’t get updated, playoffs don’t get scheduled, and teams can’t keep track of who they need to beat.

But we understand that score reporting isn’t always fun, especially when you have to enter the scores for a bunch of games. So, when we first built score reporting as a “per game” feature, we quickly realized we needed to make it easier for admins.

And that’s exactly what we did. Now, you can report the scores for many games on the same page. Click on “Games to Report” on the left toolbar, and it’ll take you to our spiffy new score report page.

You can use the calendar to pick the day for which you want to report scores. Or, you can choose which league you want and enter all the outstanding scores for that league. This way, no matter how you keep track of results, you can update them to Athleague from the same page in minutes.

Welcome University of Pennsylvania

So Penn showed us some Valentine’s Day love today. They just agreed to be the first school officially signed on to use Athleague to run their intramural sports. We’ve been running a trial during the current IM basketball season, and apparently they liked what they saw.

We’ll be getting situated during the soccer season and the rest of the school year and begin switching over from Penn’s current, paper-based system to Athleague. By the summer, Penn’s IM and club sports will be fully online, saving Penn time and money.

Much thanks to Dave Anderson, Mike Reno, and Ryan Buries for having faith in us. You guys won’t regret it. :)

Divisions

We just added the divisions feature today. These work just like divisions do in the NFL or NBA. You can put teams in various divisions for scheduling or other purposes. Then, if you want, you can use these to make playoff scheduling easier. For example, the top x seeds can automatically advance to the playoffs from each division, if that’s how your league works.

This is especially helpful for grouping teams that play on the same day in larger leagues. Say you have 50 teams that play once a week, Monday through Friday. You can put 10 teams in 5 divisions, one for each day. This makes scheduling much easier and helps you keep track of which teams play when.
